House System
Building Team Spirit
Building Team Spirit
The House System is at the heart of our school spirit, fostering camaraderie, leadership, and resilience through friendly competition and teamwork. Every KIS student belongs to one of three Houses—Sapi, Sulug, or Gaya—named after the beautiful islands near Kota Kinabalu. Each House is also represented by an endangered Bornean species:
🏆 Sapi – Sun Bear 🐻
🏆 Sulug – Shark 🦈
🏆 Gaya – Pangolin 🦔
Through House challenges, sports events, and community initiatives, students develop teamwork, perseverance, and a strong sense of belonging. The House System not only strengthens school spirit but also helps students build friendships, embrace leadership roles, and grow into resilient, collaborative individuals.
At KIS, every student has the opportunity to explore, compete, and thrive—together!

Student Wellbeing
Caring for Every Student
Caring for Every Student
At KIS we prioritise the mental and physical wellbeing of our students. As a nurturing and caring community, we ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and valued.
Our full-time counsellor works closely with our Safeguarding Team to provide guidance and emotional support, while all staff undergo annual Safeguarding training to uphold the highest international standards.
With comprehensive support services in place, we are committed to creating a secure and inclusive environment where every student can thrive, grow, and succeed.
