From the Principal 15.04.2023
Saturday 15th April
Dear KIS Community,
Welcome back to the third term of this school year, and a warm welcome to our new families. It has been lovely to see our children settling in so quickly and return to their usual routines of learning through their lessons, play and socialising. As adults, we often forget the importance of learning and how our interactions with others impacts how and when we learn. Coming to school with the right mind-set is also very important. If students (and adults) have a bad morning, then their minds are not focussed on the tasks ahead, their interactions with others are not as purposeful. A good start to the day sets the tone for learning throughout the day. This is similar to the start of the term, where we look to continue the high standards and expectations for quality learning and behaviour of all students, so they can each reach their own potential each day.
Part of all of our learning journeys is an understanding and awareness for our environment and the world we live in (and share). Next week we will be celebrating and raising awareness for environmental issues that impact us all. Earth Week is a collaboration across the school and will have a different focus each day to support and promote awareness. Please do get involved and help to educate the next generation. My thanks to the Eco-Committee, Ms Gibbons and Ms McPherson for organising and to everyone who supports and takes part in the activities. If you haven’t already, use this weekend to help plan your Friday outfit.
Talking of outfits, have you got your 70s retro costumes ready for the KIS 50th Anniversary Gala Evening? The 29th of April promises to be an evening to be remembered, a one of a kind event in KIS history. Thank you to our very generous sponsors for providing some truly fantastic prizes and auction items, including the chance to win RM5000 off of your child’s school fees! You can find more information here. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, there are still a few left, and you can buy raffle tickets even if you are unable to attend.
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
