From the Principal 25.03.2023
Dear KIS Community,
I would like to thank our wonderful staff and students for making sure this last week of term has been such an enjoyable one as we head into the holidays. I spoke at the end of term assemblies about the speed in which this term has gone by. 2023 has been the first year in this decade without the fear of Covid hanging over us. As our memories of lockdowns and home learning drift into the past we have realised how much takes place in a busy school. Speaking to our students and staff I exclaimed my surprise at how quickly the year is going by. We all know how time slows down when we are bored, and that probably explains why we are at the end of the second term, when it only feels like we have just celebrated the new year.
We get caught up in making sure we provide excellent learning opportunities, events, trips, competitions, and general day to day learning experiences. It is no wonder students and staff need a break (and parents too). We need to unwind and decompress, the new buzzwords being wellbeing and mindfulness. Nothing has changed over the years, these concepts are not new, and it is not difficult to see we need to look after ourselves first, to be able to look after others. Enjoy the holidays and relax where you can. For our staff, students, and many parents, these past few months have been a whirlwind. Take the time to slow down and enjoy where we are with the ones that we love. In a couple of weeks we’ll be back at school, making sure the learning opportunities and experiences continue. Thank you to everyone who makes it all possible.
Wishing you a lovely holiday,
Ian Gross
