From the Head of Primary 22.06.2024

This week began on a wonderful note with a highly successful transition morning for the entire primary school. Our students had the opportunity to engage in various transition activities with their new teachers, which is an incredibly valuable experience. These sessions help children acclimate to their new environments, easing any anxieties and building excitement for the upcoming school year. They also foster early relationships with their new teachers and classmates, creating a foundation for a smooth start in the new term.

A special mention goes to our Year 6 students, who participated in a seamless transition to Year 7. More detailed insights about this will be shared by Mrs. Beresford in the secondary newsletter. We extend our heartfelt thanks to her and the secondary team for their warm welcome and efforts in making this transition as smooth as possible for our students.

The rest of the week has been equally exciting. Our Year 4 students embarked on a memorable residential trip to Outward Bound Sabah. This adventure was a roaring success, offering students a chance to develop their independence, teamwork, and outdoor skills in a beautiful natural setting.

Our youngest learners in EYFS had their singalong, showcase, and graduation all rolled into one delightful event. It was heartwarming to see their enthusiasm for moving up to Year 1, and the joy they have experienced in the Early Years setting was evident in their performances and smiles.

Year 1 students ventured to Mari Mari Cultural Village, experiencing a wonderful adventure into the jungle to learn about the indigenous tribes. Despite the stormy weather, the trip was an educational and enjoyable exploration for all involved.

Reflecting on the previous week, our Year 2s had a fantastic trip to Galaxy Bowl and the arcade. This outing was a brilliant celebration of their project on toys through the ages, culminating in a fun-filled day of bowling and games. It was delightful to hear about their excitement and the memorable strikes they achieved in bowling.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support throughout this year. As we approach the final week of term, we have a busy schedule ahead:

  • Monday at 1 pm: Final Primary Awards Assembly (parents are welcome to attend)
  • Tuesday: Year 6 Assembly
  • Wednesday: Science Day
  • Thursday Morning: KIS Got Talent
  • Thursday Afternoon: Class Parties
  • Friday: Whole School Celebration & Awards Day @ Yayasan Sabah

It promises to be a busy but fantastic end to the term!

Warm regards,

Mark Beresford
