Housepoints Award
At the end of this short week, it was wonderful to celebrate another of our youngest students in F2 earning their Bronze award for gaining 40 housepoints. Each of these awards are a fabulous celebration for individual, recognising their success and hard work in all areas of learning.
I am certain that it won’t be long until we are celebrating more names and presenting more of our individual housepoint awards to the Primary students of KIS!
Congratulations to :
F2: Caelum
We cannot wait until we are back in school when we can present you with your Bronze Award Certificates! Well done!!

Housepoint Totals
Despite the short week this week, Primary students have continued to shine bright and work hard to earn housepoints for their Houses. Altogether, they accumulated an impressive 732 housepoints which works out on average to be around 90 points per year group! Well done everyone!
Continuing the excitingly close race we’ve seen since the start of this school year, this week did not disappoint with the winning House clinching victory by just 1 point! What an exciting battle we have on our hands this year!
The housepoints awarded to each team was:
In 3rd place, with 241 housepoints is Sulug!
In 2nd place with 245 housepoints is Gaya!
In 1st place with 246 housepoints is Sapi!
Our congratulations go to Sapi Subears for their second victory this year!! Who will we be celebrating as Housepoint Champions next week?
GO GAYA PANGOLINS! GO SAPI SUNBEARS!! GO SULUG SHARKS!!!
DOJO CHALLENGES
This week, the Dojo challenge champions were the Sapi Sunbears! It is wonderful to see so many familiar names of children completing the challenges every week, but I am always so pleased to see new names appearing as new students choose to take on the challenges and help their House earn extra points! Well done everyone who took part in any challenge last week. I can’t wait to see what KIS do with the challenges this week!
The Monthly Maths Challenge continues for another week with the September Maths Challenge. If you want to have a go at solving the Maths Challenge for this month, you can find a challenge suitable for F1&F2, Year 1&2, Year 3&4 and Year 5&6. Good luck Maths challengers! All entries for the Monthly Maths Challenge are due by Friday 24th September 2021.
For this week’s Fun Dojo Challenge, we are excited to introduce a new challenge brought to us by Mr. Beresford. He has designed a challenge that he named “Life Thru a Lens” which is a photography competition, inviting our students to take a photograph of something linked to a theme. The theme for this first competition is “A Pupil’s View of Sabah”. If you choose to take part, you need to take a photograph of how you view Sabah. This can be anything from where you live, to the wildlife found here, to the beautiful scenery and sunsets we see everyday. Winning entries from each House in each Key Stage will be displayed on the walls of the Primary Office. The closing date for photo entries is Friday 24th September. Good luck everyone!
Please share photos of your completed challenges through this Google Form link:

Ms. Lisa in our Marketing Department will use some of the wonderful challenge submissions each week to celebrate and share your wonderful work through videos created for KIS social media sites. Please use the link above, complete the required information in the Google Form and upload your photos.
If you missed the challenges when they were shared on Dojo on Friday, please check out School Story on Dojo to find the link to the Weekly Dojo Challenge folder.
Don’t forget, you can also scan the QR code that matches your House colour to see a brilliant video made by the Y6 House Captains to explain the Fun Dojo Challenge. This week, videos were created by Janesse for Gaya, Janice for Sapi and Eshaana for Sulug! Great job everyone!
You can also use this link https://cutt.ly/LfcFEyn to access the folder and find the details for all the challenges shared this week. If you have any questions, please do get in touch via email; sbarlass@kis.edu.my or through Class Dojo messages.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible participating with these weekly challenges, but please do remember that all challenges are optional. All entries for all challenges will be awarded with housepoints towards their House Team total, because “Team work makes the dream work!”
Happy challenging KIS!
Secondary House News
This week saw SULUG continue their lead in the Merits totals with a healthy lead over GAYA whilst SAPI languish somewhat in 3rd place:-

The weekly House competitions have had mixed uptake but what is clear is that GAYA are more consistent with the number of entries and as a result have a healthy enough lead to take the overall House competition lead.

This week has seen the start of the process to select the House Student Leadership Group.
This will be led by a House President for each house from year 11, 12 or 13. They will work closely with the House Coordinator in running online and in person events throughout the year.

They will in turn lead a team of House Year Ambassadors whose selection process has also started this week. We look forward to developing these student “soft” skills of public speaking, leading teams/meetings, motivating and public speaking through this framework.

We look forward to some exciting competition in the coming months!!
Mr Stuart Bromley
