HOUSEPOINT AWARD

After just 2 short weeks in school, we celebrated a small handful of students  and presented them with their Housepoint awards in our Weekly Assembly. These students came from all across our Primary school, and included those from our very youngest class in Early Years all the way up to our oldest students in Year 6. HOUSEPOINT TOTAL

Following 2 short weeks of school, Primary were still out to impress all their teachers as they earned a collective total of 867 housepoints overall! What a great effort from everyone who earned housepoints and continue to show the attributes all KIS students display.

Our youngest students in F1 were victorious as the Class Champions this week, earning an average of 6 housepoints per pupil for all their hard work! Well done F1. We are very proud of you all!

The battle between our Houses is still close and this week’s results were no exception!

FIRST DOJO CHALLENGE

We have had two weeks of fun challenges as well as our April Maths challenge completed and I have loved seeing all the entries submitted. The mini joke videos have had me rolling on the floor with laughter and I have enjoyed seeing the wonderful photos representing Our Earth for the latest entries to our Life Thru a Lens competition. Watch this space for joke clips soon!

I look forward to sharing the winners of the photo competition with you in the weeks to come, but until then we can celebrate Sapi Sunbears as our Dojo Challenge Champions!

Now it’s time to find out what challenges you can involve yourself in this week.

The Monthly Maths Challenge will return after the half term break. We will share details of the May Maths Challenge on Friday 12th May 2023!

In recent weeks we have watched our House Mascots undergo a superhero transformation and now it is your turn to show your own superhero transformations! You are our KIS Super Students and this fun challenge gives you the opportunity to show us what you would look like as a superhero. What costume would you wear? What superpowers would you possess? Would you be like a famous superhero from the movies or a real life superhero like a firefighter or paramedic? Create a drawing or take a photo to show who you are as a Super Student at KIS!

Please share your completed challenge entries through this Google Form link:

https://forms.gle/x299siZPjTQj1tKp7

Ms. Lisa in our Marketing Department may use some of the wonderful challenge submissions each week to celebrate and share your wonderful work through videos created for the KIS newsletter and social media sites. Please use the link above, complete the required information in the Google Form and upload your photos.

If you missed the challenges when they were shared on Dojo on Friday, please check out School Story on Dojo to find the link to the Weekly Dojo Challenge folder.

You can also use this link https://cutt.ly/LfcFEyn to access the folder and find the details for all the challenges shared this week. If you have any questions, please do get in touch via email; sbarlass@kis.edu.my or through Class Dojo messages.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible participating with these weekly challenges, but please do remember that all challenges are optional. All entries for all challenges will be awarded with housepoints towards their House Team total, because “Team work makes the dream work!”

Happy challenging KIS!

SECONDARY NEWS

It is great to be back up and running will all of our House lunch and after-school activities. Our attendances of each ECA have increased and it is very pleasing to see new faces each week.

Our House team has lost some key members due to study leave but I would like to thank them here again for their hard work in Term 1 and Term 2. They have made significant contributions in making the House Team successful. These students are: Freya, Angelina, Richie, Tiggi, Janush, and Laverne (all Y13). Zack, Isaac, Kon Han, Jonathan and Debbie (all Y11). I really hope you enjoyed being part of the team. I thoroughly enjoyed leading you!

However, this has brought new opportunities and responsibilities for our younger students and it has been amazing to see over the last two weeks the students step up and take on new roles. Our current ECA leaders are as follows:

House Chess: Sebastian (Y9), Taylor (Y8), Janice (Y7), Chaeeun (Y7), and Lily (Y7)

House 2Ball: Tony (Y9), Leroy (Y9), Ian Zi (Y8) and Aldrich (Y8)

House Quiz: Julia (Y10)

House Sport ECA: Ken Zi (Y10) and Amanda (Y10)

Staying on topic of the House Sport ECA the club has broken it’s previous sign up record and now has 45 students from KS3 attending the cub and I thank them all for their commitments to the club. The sports were chosen via Google Form and our current sports are Dodgeball and Capture the Flag. Gaya have made a great start and are top of both leagues.

The deadline for the #6 Six Word Story is this weekend and I will reveal the winners once we return from the half-term break. There will also be a new competition released to finish off the term.
