HOUSE NEWS 08.05.2021

This week we presented an impressive 38 Housepoint Awards to students throughout Primary and excitingly, lots of awards were presented to siblings! I’m sure there will be lots of family celebrations this weekend in recognition of their hard work and achievements!!

Congratulations everyone! Which awards will we present next week?

With the excitement of Book Week taking place throughout school this week, Primary students have amassed an amazing housepoint total thanks to scavenger hunts, quizzes and all the Book Week fun we’ve enjoyed! Collectively, the weekly grand total was over 1,600 housepoints which gives an average of 100 housepoints per class! What a great achievement Primary! Well done.

The battle for first place was closely fought with only 15 points separating the 3 houses. Every housepoint matters as the end of the year draws ever closer and we cannot wait to find out who will be our overall champions for this year.

This week, the housepoints we awarded to each team was:

In 3rd place with 537 housepoints is Sapi!

In 2nd place with 548 housepoints is Gaya!

In 1st place with 552 housepoints is Sulug!

Congratulations to the Sharks for their narrow win this week! How close will the race for first place be next week??

Sulug were the scavenger hunt champions for last week’s challenge as the Sharks found lots of items starting with S. Everyone who took part in the challenge found some excellent items for their mascot initials and I loved seeing the collections shared by those taking part. I can’t wait to see what challenges are completed this week! Let’s go KIS!

The Monthly Maths Challenge returns this week with the tasks set for May. There are challenges set for Y1&2, Y3&4 and Y5&6 for you to attempt! Good luck maths challengers! All entries for the Monthly Maths Challenge are due by Friday 28th May 2021.

This week’s fun challenge is a Book Week inspired drawing challenge. As the theme for Book Week was Robots and Aliens, you can choose to draw a robot or an alien or even draw your favourite book character. In the shared drive, there are tutorials to follow for drawing robots and aliens. You can follow these or create your very own drawing.

Ms. Lisa in our Marketing Department will use some of the wonderful challenge submissions each week to celebrate and share your wonderful work through videos created for KIS social media sites. Please use the link above, complete the required information in the Google Form and upload your photos. 

Book @ Bedtime…or Anytime is back again this week with Mrs. Holmes reading one of her favourite stories: The Dragon Machine. Read along with her and make sure you keep a close eye out to spot all the dragons throughout the beautiful pictures in this wonderful story!!
