Dear KIS Community,

The excitement is building, the preparations are getting busier; in just a few days we will be celebrating the KIS International Day. The day begins with a parade of nations, celebrating national dress and pride from around the globe. There will be an opportunity for parents to have photos with their children on an outdoor stage (depending on weather). Following internationally minded lessons and activities, the afternoon is an opportunity for your taste-buds to travel the world. Not forgetting of course the chance to bid and win one of the many spectacular hampers, full of many wonderful goodies. So many thanks to a multitude of parents for the work that has gone into organising this event, preparing the food stalls, the hampers, selling tickets etc. Please do come along on Thursday, it promises to be a great day. School will finish at 2pm on Thursday and there will not be any ECAs.

Linked to International Day, you may have noticed as you walk to the Hall, a new art piece has developed. Inspired by one of our parents, the design took shape. Mrs Yuen, along with Mrs Knight and Cassidy and Dania (Sixth Form Students), spent some of last weekend bringing colour and depth to the wall art. Our thanks and appreciation, make sure you visit this artwork on Thursday as more will be happening with your help.

The Art Team, weren’t the only busy ones last weekend, as you will read in this newsletter, the beach and reef clean went very well and our Stingray swimmers had a very good weekend in Penampang. My thanks and pride for everyone who was involved across the various activities last weekend.

Coming up in the next month (other than international day), the Deaf Society School, one of our neighbours, will be holding a carnival on its grounds on Sunday 6th October, if you have the time please pop along. The following week we will be celebrating Think Pink, raising awareness for breast cancer as well as preparing for our visit from CIS, please feel free to meet our visitors in the mornings during drop off, more details will follow. If that wasn’t enough we will be creating decorations to celebrate Diwali. As we start the half term, we will be hosting a Walk for Freedom, more news will follow about this. At the end of October, we will also be hosting an exhibition to highlight environment change with the international student group, Ubuntu, again, more information to follow.

Finally from me, a reminder to parents (or your drivers) in the morning to drive slowly (without a mobile phone in your hand) and when picking up children in the afternoon to be aware of where and how you park. We want to ensure safety for all, as well as allowing pick up to be as smooth as possible. When parking in the Mosque car park, please remember they give us permission to do so and we need to respect their area. Thank you.

I wish you all a lovely weekend, make sure to get your vouchers for International Day 2019.
