From the Principal 21.09.19
Dear KIS Community,
As we start our weekend please remember it’s only for two days this time and we do look forward to seeing you all on Monday. If you are not sure what to do today, why not find some gloves and head to the beach at Tanjung Aru (indications for API are currently moderate and we will monitor and update if necessary). Alternatively you could head over to Penampang Stadium to support a number of our swimming students who are competing this weekend.
Regarding the haze, as mentioned above, we are continuing to monitor the API readings (Air Pollution Index), not to be confused with AQI (Air Quality Index). The Ministry refers to API and we use their data through APIMS. We will of course notify you when significant changes occur and what action we will be taking. If you do not hear from us through WhatsApp or email, please assume that we carry on as usual. We do understand that some children (and adults) are more susceptible to lower air quality and should they wish to wear appropriate masks we will support your decision. Our school nurse also has access to inhalers and a nebuliser should it be required.
Thank you to our parents who were able to come along to our Coffee Morning this week, there will be another one in October and further details will be sent in due course. Our thanks also to Dr Murugan who visited from KPJ to discuss issues related to health. We will be looking to arrange more opportunities for parent workshops in the future.
International Day is drawing closer and the PTA have been extremely busy with preparations for this wonderful occasion. The whole school community looks forward to one of the highlights on the school calendar and come together to recognise and celebrate our diversity. I am looking forward to the stalls and the friendly competition that it brings. Thank you to everyone who has been donating items for the hampers, the auction last year was very well received. Be sure to purchase your vouchers from the PTA.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
