From the Principal 29.04.2023
Dear KIS Community,
I am very much looking forward to tonight when many members of our community will be gathering at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Ballroom to celebrate 50 years of nurturing global citizens at KIS. So, it is rather fitting that I can also publish our updated vision as we prepare to start the next fifty years. Many of you will remember before Covid, the school launched an ambitious programme of development called Vision 25. During the pandemic our focus changed to promote wellbeing and support alongside a quality education. Moving away from the pandemic, our focus has developed, and we still look to the future. Members of our school leadership and board of governors met to discuss our strategic vision and to realign ourselves with our goals. As a result I am pleased to announce the re-launch of our shared strategic roadmap, Vision 28, which you can read here.
We are entering an exciting phase at school with plans already in place to support our shared vision, including continuing the beautification of our school grounds and environment as we enhance our stairways and corridors over the summer break. The Board of Governors recently announced to our Eco School Committee their plans for future sustainability through the introduction of solar panels that should support approximately half of our daily energy needs at school. It is hoped these panels will be operational shortly after our return in the new school year.
Apart from tonight’s gala event, there will be other opportunities throughout this year to come together and celebrate our past fifty years as we lay the foundations for the next fifty. KIS truly is an international school where students achieve their potential as global citizens, and are prepared for their future lives, they are supported to gain entry into their universities of choice, wherever they wish to live. This has been true for the past fifty years and will continue into the next.
To support safety at school at the end of the day, can you please take note, Secondary students not in an ECA should be picked up at 3pm, as they are not able to play basketball unsupervised. For Primary students, parents or a designated adult, must collect children from the class pickup points at 2pm or from the ECA leader at 3pm. Primary children will not be allowed to leave school by themselves, parents must park and collect. If parents have not arrived within 10 minutes, children will be taken to the PASS club and a charge will be made to parents for this. Thank you for your understanding and helping to keep your children safe.
Wishing you a lovely weekend and a great holiday.
