From the Principal 21.05.2022
Saturday 21st May
Dear KIS Community,
Time to wake up, get up and come along to the KIS Eco Car Boot Sale. Starting at 9am the school will be open through to 3pm today giving plenty of time to do some shopping around. Come along and say hi to people you haven’t seen in a while.
Next week is a busy week for the PTASC, they have organised a dance troupe to come to school on the Wednesday morning (25th) to celebrate Harvest Festival (Kaamatan) and similar to previous years Parents will be able to come in and join in the celebration. We ask children (staff and parents too) to dress to impress for the occasion.
Thursday morning (26th) we have the PTA AGM, all parents and teachers are automatically members of the PTA and we invite you to attend the AGM in the school hall at 8am, straight after drop-off. Please come along and help us reach the quorum. The PTA Steering Committee are still accepting nominations for new members (see the PTA section for further information). As they come to the end of their year, I would like to thank all of the current PTASC members for their hard work and dedication through the year. In particular thank you to the Chair, Nicole Gervasi, for keeping the team going.
Thank you to everyone who sent messages and flowers to our staff over the past week for teacher appreciation. I know they were very much appreciated and well deserved. The PTASC is organising our annual staff appreciation lunch on June 9th and you can read more about how to get involved in the PTA section.
As we move forward we are getting close to our 50th Anniversary in 2023 and we are looking for a select committee of parents, staff and students to help guide us through this special year with ideas and energy to develop and organise events and activities to celebrate this wonderful milestone. If you would be interested to help, please drop me a line (principal@kis.edu.my).
Finally, we are seeing in the news that cases of Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease (HFMD) are rising across Sabah. Predominantly this affects children under 10 and can be seen by fever, rashes on feet and / or hands as well as in the mouth. Practice regular handwashing. We do check temperature on entry to school and should we have a case in school we have protocols to follow based on Ministry advice. If you are unsure about your child’s health please seek medical advice and do not bring them to school until cleared to do so. Further advice can be found on the school website / KIS community / useful documents.
See you later today at the Eco Car Boot Sale.
I wish you a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
