Saturday 14th May

Dear KIS Community,

Learning inside and outside of the classrooms is in full swing. Students have been engaged in active lessons, taking examinations, playing at break-times, assemblies, enjoying ECAs, going on day trips and getting involved with DofE AJs. This past week really has brought the school spirit back to life, and it has been excellent to see. Well done and thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

Talking of thank you’s, teacher appreciation day in Malaysia is 16th May (also Wesak Day) and to help mark the occasion students have been able to order cards to send to their teachers next week through school. Our own KIS staff appreciation day will be organised by the PTASC and will take place after the half-term holiday on June 9th. The PTASC will be sending more information about this in due course.

The PTASC have been very busy, not just organising staff appreciation, but before the half-term holiday, we will be hosting the PTA AGM on Thursday 26th May and we hope to see as many of you as possible at school and be a part of this very important meeting. Please check your emails for further details. You are all already members of the PTA and they are always looking for volunteers to be a part of the Steering Committee (PTASC), details for how you can join are in the same emails.

On Saturday 21st, the weekend before the PTA AGM, the school is holding our annual Car Boot Sale, posters have been in the newsletter with more information and this will be our first whole school event we have had at school for quite some time. Please do come along between 9am and 3pm to support our community. You can also contact Ms Ann Chin if you wish to have your own stall to sell items. Details are on the poster.

For staffing news, we welcome Ms Emery Joy who will be joining us next week as a new TLA in the EYFS. As numbers grow in our Early Years we want to make sure we maintain our adult student ratios to keep the learning experience optimal. We also say goodbye to Ms Geneviey from the finance department as she moves on to a new career in sales. We are currently finalising her replacement for the office.

I wish you a lovely weekend and happy Wesak Day, remember Monday is a holiday (and Teacher Appreciation Day).
