From the Principal, 16.03.19
Dear KIS Community,
If you are reading this on Saturday morning, get up and get dressed for the beach. Bring a hat, sunscreen and some gloves. We would love you to join our Eco-Warriors at Tanjung Aru 1. Starting from 9am students, staff and parents will be working together for the second KIS Beach Clean. Come along, join the fun and help support our environment. You can finish reading the newsletter later.
Perhaps some of our Primary students might need to go to the beach a little later as they might be sleeping in late due to dancing so much last night. The Primary Discos were held at school last night and a huge thank you to all the students, staff and parents for making it the fun and special occasion it was; well done to the Primary Student Council.
The Year 12 & 13s have been busy with their mock exams all week and we wish them well with their results. These exams are a great opportunity for students to see where they need to improve and support themselves before the real exams in Term Three. If they need any guidance they should go and see their subject teachers in the first instance who will be happy to help them.
School trips continue through this term, FOBISIA Golf and Rock Climbing, Year 3 and Year 5 have residential trips as well as our second MUN trip this year, which is going to Thailand this time. Clearly students and staff are busy with not just time in the classroom but also developing the students’ wider skills outside of the usual four walls. Thank you to everyone who is making this possible and helping to develop global citizenship through all these activities.
Earlier this week we met the incoming Head of Primary for next year. Mrs Jo Smith spent a couple of days with us and was impressed with the school, students and community and has left feeling more excited than ever at becoming a part of the KIS family from August.
Some parents have asked me this week where our picture of Nicholas has gone; I wish to reassure you that he has not been forgotten and we have moved the picture inside to our Secondary library. We will be having a more permanent memorial in due course and will of course inform you nearer the time.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
Principal
