KIS is committed to building positive relationships within our wider community and is proud of the caring nature of our children. Many students have expressed concerns regarding the condition of the stray dogs within the school’s environment and, in response, KIS has contacted the Borneo Animal Welfare Society, Sabah (BAWSS).

BAWSS is a non-profit organization that is funded through charitable means. KIS is fortunate in securing their support and expertise in order to trap, neuter and return the dogs around our grounds. Neutered animals are less likely to engage in aggressive activity associated with “mating seasons” and are also likely to maintain a better physical condition than non-neutered animals as a result.  In partnership with BAWSS, KIS hope to develop a long-term solution to the ongoing problem of sick/injured stray dogs around our school, improve the welfare of these animals generally and prevent/minimize any increase in their numbers.

To support the future work of BAWSS in Kota Kinabalu, a donation box for monetary contributions and a plastic bin for dogfood donations will be located within the school grounds shortly. Information about the BAWSS charity will also be made available through the school’s main office.
