From the Principal 14.01.2023
Dear KIS Community,
Wishing you all a happy New Year and I hope you all had a relaxing and restful break with friends and families. A couple of weeks back in school and then we have another New Year celebration to look forward to. Before then though we do have our Year 11 students taking their mock examinations for IGCSE, school photos will be taking place next week and currently a group of students are finishing their Gold Adventurous Journey. To see us into the New Year we will be having a lion dance troupe visiting the school on Friday morning and our thanks to the PTASC and Mr Angus Wong for arranging this. Staff, students and parents are invited to wear Chinese themed clothing for the day to help celebrate, thank you to the PTASC who will be arranging mandarin oranges at lunch time.
After the last newsletter I had many positive comments about the reminder to not use mobile phones whilst driving. It seems there is a strong sentiment for more careful driving, not just about phones but also the use of seatbelts for children. To help with this, next week as we lead up to the Chinese New Year we will be giving all of our parents a supportive car sticker as a gift from KIS to help promote safer driving. We will be handing these out to drivers at the drop-off throughout the next week. We will also send them home with primary children and they can also be collected from the security office at the front gate. If you receive more than one then pass on to friends and family to help spread the message for safer driving.
Finally, you may notice we have been modifying our school logo as we approach our 50th anniversary. The actual date for our 50th is 10th October 2023, and as we approach this wonderful milestone we will be having a variety of events. My thanks to the wonderful parent and staff volunteers who have been busy planning for these events which will be announced in due course.
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
