We join the world in commemorating the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the end of a 70 year reign which has seen so much change and development; may she rest in peace.
Dear KIS Community,
This past week has seen a flurry of parent activity and we are thankful for having such a supportive and dedicated community. The week started with the New Friends Team welcoming many of our new families who were able to join us at school last Tuesday. On Thursday, volunteers along with staff members attended the first 50th Anniversary Planning Committee, this was a very positive and productive meeting and the plans for the anniversary year are starting to take shape. Finally, yesterday the PTA International Day Committee met to discuss our first physical International Day in three years. We really are appreciative of all of our parents who are able to give us some of their time and expertise. If you want to get involved please do contact the PTA at pta@kis.edu.my .
As we settle back into the usual routines of a busy school I would like to remind our community that we have pledged to be a ‘single-use plastic free school’ please be mindful of this with children’s bags and lunches etc. This brings another reminder that we do have a healthy eating policy and to remind parents that fast foods e.g. McDonalds, KFC etc. are not considered appropriate lunch or snack food at school for most days. You can read more of our policies from the ‘Useful Documents’ section of our website.
Hopefully the weather will stay calm and cool for all the beach cleans taking place today. Head along to your local beach and get involved with some litter picking. We have a KIS Team of student divers, supported by Ms McNutt, to help clean the reefs, thanks to MRF for sponsoring them.
In staffing news we believe we should be seeing the return of Ms Guo Jing (Mandarin) and Mr Latimer (Maths) back at school next week for physical lessons. We thank them both for their dedication working online over the past couple of weeks.
Finally, next week will be a short week as we celebrate Malaysia Day on Friday 16th September and school will be closed for a long weekend.
