From the Principal 03.12.2022
Dear KIS Community,
Our students have so much talent, it was an absolute pleasure to watch many of our secondary students perform on Thursday evening. I know that everyone there (and there were a lot of people) thoroughly enjoyed the performances. If you didn’t get the chance, make sure you attend at the next opportunity. Well done and thank to Ms Tretter for organising and also to the many supporting students and staff who helped make the evening a success.
Year 4 and Year 6 also had the opportunity to showcase their learning (civilisations and the human body respectively) over the past couple of days and it has been inspirational to see not just see what they have been learning but also the passion and excitement they have for explaining what they have been learning. Thank you to the Year teams and also to the parents who came in to see the showcases.
As many of our Year 13 students are completing their university entrance for the UK (UCAS) and preparing for their last few months before the exams start, our Year 11 students have been learning about the Sixth Form at KIS and what study options are available to them. Thank you to Ms Colbeck for ably helping our parents and students to navigate the A level choices in a very informative evening earlier this week.
Thinking of Ms Colbeck also reminds me that Book Week is here. Starting on Monday, with many many book related activities planned across the next week, culminating in the incredibly popular Character Day where we all get to dress as a favourite character from books (not films). We also see a return of the Book Fair throughout the week and parents and children have the opportunity to visit and pick up some new books in the MPR. Alternatively, parents can pop into the café and take part in the book swap.
If a week of book related activities was not enough for you, and I am sure you will still have some energy left, next Saturday is the annual Christmas Fair. Come along between 10am and 2pm and have a relaxing Saturday social and a chance to pick up some Christmas gift ideas. You may have noticed the school grounds have a very definite Christmassy feel, or KISmas as we like to call it. Thank you to our dedicated PTA Mums for putting up the KISmas decorations and helping us all feel in the festive mood as we head towards the holidays, and I hear a rumour that we might have a visit from Santa in the last week.
Finally, as a follow up from the KIS AGM last week I am delighted to be able to announce the Board of Governors and their roles for the coming year.
