From the Head of Primary 25.04.2020
The first day of any term is a time of excitement, new challenges, optimism and maybe a little apprehension of what lies ahead. Although this isn’t the beginning of term that we were all hoping for, I think it’s true to say that our children (and even us grownups) are all experiencing the emotions that I have mentioned. As you know, we have introduced weekly video calls with class teachers and I know that many children have been excited to catch up and reconnect face to face. New challenges face us all this term and they of course will relate to our school and home lives. The children will be presented with new challenges across the curriculum and as we continue with remote learning parents will be challenged to support their children to complete them. We have no choice but to be optimistic in order to look after our mental health. Yes, we are all going through a tough time. We can’t visit friends like we used to, we can’t visit our favourite places, life can get boring at the moment and from time to time we get on each other’s nerves but as they say, when life gives you lemons make lemonade. We do have a lot to be grateful for. Apprehension is a reality for us all at this unusual time. None of us know how this will pan out and when we will be able to return to school and see family and friends. It is important that we communicate and are open and honest with ourselves and each other about how we are felling. Make the most of the systems that are in place to support us and remember that Ms Siti, our School Councillor is available for the whole KIS community. Ms Siti can be contacted at snaim@kis.edu.my.
Stay safe, stay positive and keep smiling!
