From the Head of Primary 20.02.2021

Although learning did not resume for the children until Thursday, staff were in their online classrooms on Wednesday and spent the day taking part in a number of professional development opportunities. During the rest of this term and for term 3, primary staff will be learning more about Assessment for Learning and will be collaborating with each other to share best practice and learn from each other. We will be looking at the five key strategies of formative assessment which are;

Clarifying, sharing and understanding learning intentions and criteria for success

  • Engineering effective classroom discussions, activities and tasks that elicit evidence of learning
  • Providing feedback that moves learning forward
  • Activating students as owners of their own learning
  • Activating students as learning resources for one another

Assessment for Learning

A big well done to all the children who entered the Chinese New Year competition set by the Secondary Prefects. There were some spectacular entries which have been passed on for the final judging. The winning primary entries were drawn/painted by;

Ashveer              Year 2

Zoe                      Year 2

Seanan               Year 3

Maddie               Year 4

Chency                Year 4

Ada                      Year 6

Also a huge congratulations to Kayla in Year 4 and Eloise in Year 6 who were the winners of the FOBISIA writing competition. I really enjoyed reading all the entries and was super impressed by the high standard of writing across Key Stage 2.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
