Staffing 2019-20
We have been introducing our new staff and below you can see who some of them are and read a little introduction about them. Please note for Primary teachers, class teachers have not been allocated yet for next year.
I am currently in a primary school situated in Essex, teaching Year 3. I love teaching maths as it involves a lot of logical thinking and using problem solving strategies; it’s interesting to see the variety of methods children decide to use, to solve the same problem. Films are a big interest of mine and I enjoy playing my guitar. I am coming over to Kota Kinabalu with my partner Amy so it will be great to explore somewhere new with her. We can’t wait to climb Mount Kinabalu (when we’re fit and ready of course) as it seems like a challenge that we both want to overcome.
Maggie Duffield (Head of Individual Needs)
I am very excited to be joining the KIS community – staff, parents, and of course, most importantly, the students. I have enjoyed working internationally for a number of years in international schools and school reform projects, including Indonesia, Qatar, and the UAE. I am completing six happy years in Hong Kong to come to Kota Kinabalu. In addition to my love of travel and learning about different cultures, I enjoy music and swimming, and I look forward to exploring all the region offers, especially the beautiful natural world of Borneo.
Ms Duffield will be taking over the lead of the Individual Needs Department as Steven Morgan moves on to China in August.
