Race for Water Trip on 4th September
Year 5 and 6 were fortunate enough to visit the Race for Water Foundation boat this week. We learned about the importance of ensuring we greatly reduce our reliance on single-use plastics, much of which ultimately ends up in the oceans. A very informative presentation and tour of the boat’s energy systems taught us about this innovative project.
This is what we learned:
‘I learned that their boat was the largest solar-powered catamaran in the world.’ Sean, 6S.
‘The boat has about 800 solar panels but they still use three energies which is wind, water and solar.’ Tony, 6K.
‘Easter Islands are the most trashed Island in the world.’ Ting Xiang, 6S.
‘Using only the kite and wind, they can pull the boat faster.’ Pik Ern, 6K.
