From the PTASC 02.11.2019
What an incredibly exciting week we have had after the half term break. This week’s activities commenced on Wednesday with the Deepavali coffee morning. Thank you to everybody who attended and also to those who dressed up in beautiful traditional Indian costume which truly added to the festivities.
Over the past few weeks the Primary Eco Warriors have been diligently collecting CDs every morning and then distributing them to the students to decorate at home to make colourful Diyas to celebrate Deepavali, the Festival of Lights. Their assistance with the collection of old CDs for the upcycling project was greatly appreciated.
Thank you to every student and parent who contributed upcycled CDs and signed the commemorative banner. The decorated CDs will be safely packed away ready to be used on an annual basis.
Seven Indian families from within the KIS community very kindly donated funds for an ice cream giveaway during lunchtime. Every student and all members of staff were able to enjoy a free Diwali ice cream tub. Many thanks to all the families involved for their generosity.
Thank you to the three Y5 students, Amy, Jaxon & Kelvin for representing the KIS students at the ceremony and announcing the upcycle project & record bid.
We would like to thank our very special guest Dr. GT Rajendran who represented Malaysia’s Hindu Sangam (Sabah Chapter) for officiating the
‘Largest Display of Upcycled CDs by KIS Students’
KIS managed to achieve a fabulous inaugural record of 229 upcycled CDs!
The day itself would not have been so successful without the help and support from the KIS community which we very much appreciate.
Spooky night
The PTASC have also been busy supporting both the Student Council and Charity committee by selling ice creams during the spooky night on Thursday. Well done to all the students who were involved in putting together such a great event. It was truly spooky!
Secondary Sports Day
Lastly the PTASC also attended the secondary sports day yesterday at Penampang stadium and provided light snacks and drinks. Thank you to our wonderful sponsors for providing food and drinks to sell on the day.
We wish to thank everyone for all the wonderful support that we have had this week and wish you all a restful weekend.
