Dear KIS Community,

This weekend a group of students are taking part in their first DofE adventurous journey for their Bronze Award. This has been a long time in planning and making sure strict SOPs are in place for everyone’s safety. Well done to all involved and thank you to our staff for giving up their time and making sure the trip is not only a success but also safe.

At the start of the week, the 4th Annual Exhibition for Global Warming was held online by UBUNTU. We are delighted to work with this talented group again and help promote such great community spirit across a number of countries. Well done to everyone involved and to Grace from Year 10 who directed the event. Also at the start of the week we began Movember, a chance to grow moustaches and raise awareness for men’s health. Mr Fletcher will be keeping us updated on our hairy progress.

As the week continued we all looked forward to a day of light and I hope you were all able to enjoy Deepavali on Thursday. As we move forward into next week, we will be having a Pink day for Breast Cancer Awareness and also Remembrance Day, both on Thursday 11th. Thursday will be busy as we will also have Laptops and Lattes to look forward to and a letter for this will be sent next week.

On our website we have updated our SOPs for school which are now on version 11 following a review of our practices which you can read in full at www.kis.edu.my/postmcosafety. We have also published our new school calendar for the next academic year (2022-23) which can be found here.

We continue with making preparations for the KIS Annual General Meeting (AGM) which takes place on 27th November (online). A letter was sent from Dr Pilcher (Chair of the Board) to all parents and guardians explaining the purpose of the Board and the AGM. Each year we do ask for parent volunteers to join the Board of Governors. Please check your emails for more information.

And finally, as it looks like Sabah will be entering Phase 4 of the NRP from Monday we will inform you next week for what this means for students at KIS. There will be no change for the next two weeks as per the NRP.

Have a lovely weekend,

Ian Gross
