Dear KIS Community,

On behalf of the KIS Staff, we really, really appreciated your appreciation on Wednesday. Thank you so much for all of your efforts, in cooking, preparing, and presenting such an international culinary delight and abundance of food. Thank you to the parents who were able to take on playground duties and of course many thanks to all the students and adults who wrote the bunting messages. It truly was a lovely day full of kindness. Thank you.

Following on from our staff appreciation, we are coming closer to the end of the school year and as with all international schools at that time, we will be saying goodbye to some members of our staff. I want to thank and congratulate our staff who will be moving on to new positions at the end of this year. We are proud of your accomplishments and what you have achieved whilst working with us at KIS. We will of course miss you, but we also understand that you need to grow and experience new roles and situations and cultures as you continue your journeys as international educators. Thank you all for what you have done and continue to do as we move towards the end of the school year.

I also wish to re-assure parents and students that we have been busy through the year recruiting staff who are not only excellent and experienced educators but who are aligned to our KIS vision and philosophy. Many of them I know will be reading this and I wish them a calm end to their school year and safe journeys across to us in August.  We will introduce you to our new staff through the newsletter as the term progresses.

This week has gone quickly and we shouldn’t forget the Primary Sports Day on Tuesday. A very hot day but also very worthwhile, many school records were broken and I am sure you will read more about this in the other sections of this weeks’ news. My sincere thanks to all of the Primary staff and especially to Ms Watt and the PE Department. Great job in making sure the students had a memorable day. Well done to all and our thanks to the PTA ladies for keeping everyone hydrated.

Currently I have no further news to update you with regarding Nicholas Chong, we are still awaiting information from the authorities. We are however organising a memorial to Nicholas at school within the next month and I will of course let you know more details nearer the time.

Make sure you are quick to get your tickets for Romeo and Juliet, there are only a few left I believe. It promises to be some fantastic theatre on Monday and Tuesday. So much time and effort has gone into this production. Come along and see the awesome talent we have at KIS.

Finally, I know you will have read or seen news of the terrible tragedy that has been unfolding in Sri Lanka. I have recently been made aware that previous members of our KIS community have been working and living with their families in some of the affected areas and I just wish to reassure you that they are safe and well. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all those affected.

I wish you all a restful weekend,
