Dear KIS Community,

It is a difficult time for all and I am so proud of our community spirit right now. Three days of KIS Home Learning underway and the feedback I am hearing is very positive. There have been a few glitches along the way as we are learning too and these have generally been resolved thanks to patience and understanding. We would love to hear your feedback, positive or areas to improve etc.

A huge thank you to our staff for some very ingenious lessons and also some great videos. I know from personal experience, with my two daughters at home, how difficult it can be to motivate children at this time. I am pleased to see they are both enjoying their lessons and from time to time we all get up and have a dance around the table for no reason at all, other than we can. Let your children enjoy the experience and you can get involved too.

With more time on our hands, we are all probably surfing the internet more, at this time please be careful with what you read and pass on; there is a lot more fake news going around. Only believe verifiable sources and try and see if you can find the same news on other sites. Try fact checking websites if really unsure. It doesn’t do you any good to believe everything that is written or sent to you through WhatsApp or Instagram etc.

In the words of the Health Ministry Advisory:

The Movement Control Order (MCO) that is enforced from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020 included a comprehensive restriction of population movement to reduce the spread of COVID-19 infection in Malaysia. The public is requested to remain at home for this duration. Therefore, MOH advises the public on the following measures to ensure optimum health:

  • Practice a healthy lifestyle while at home. This includes maintaining a healthy diet, being physically active, not smoking, staying calm and practicing good stress management.
  • Ensure that purchased food items are in good condition and not exceed the expiry date. Contaminated and stale food can cause food poisoning.
  • For people with chronic diseases, ensure adequate supply of medication and continue to take medications as prescribed.
  • Clean the areas in and around the house or living quarters, including disinfection if required.
  • If unwell, please contact the Virtual Health Advisory and attend the webinar session that will be held daily starting at 9:00 am via the following link:

The public can also contact the National CPRC MOH hotline. Further information on COVID-19 in Malaysia is also available through the National CPRC MOH Telegram channel:

Despite the school closure we are still planning ahead and Term 3 ECA signups will start early next week, please look out for the letter for more details. If you are having trouble signing in to SchoolsBuddy or forgotten your password, please email Ms Melissa at eca@kis.edu.my.

We have received some excellent photos and videos with how you are all getting on and you can see some of these in this newsletter. Do get in touch and let us know your own MCO stories and how you and your families are coping at this time. We are a community and we will be stronger together, if you need support please do get in touch with us.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,
