From the Principal 13.06.2020
Dear KIS Community,
It is wonderful news that we are starting the process of having students back in school and we are looking forward to returning to more normality. Preparations continue to ensure the school is ready and able to support social distancing. A change to our policy is the acceptable temperature for entry to school is 37.5 Celsius. The PTA this year has approved the purchase of a thermal scanner for entry to the school. This will not only support our health & safety policies but will also make entering school more efficient and safer for everyone including staff on the front gate. This will be a permanent addition and will continue to monitor our community health all year round.
Whilst I thank the outgoing PTASC for all their efforts and contributions to the school as well as their generous donation, it is a pleasure to welcome in the new PTASC and following the recent AGM, the new PTASC have met for a handover and to elect their new positions. You can read more about the new committee in the PTA section.
Staff continue to work hard preparing and delivering excellent online lessons with supporting materials and resources for your children. As well as the lessons, staff are preparing end of term / year reports for all children which will be sent in the last week of term. We also aim to have ready the KIS Yearbook which has been prepared quietly in the background this past term or so. My thanks to all staff for their contributions and to Mr Fletcher, Ms McNutt and Ms Ambrose for their time and efforts in creating and preparing this year’s edition.
Mr Barker is currently finishing off the final touches for our Year 13 Graduation 2020 (virtual edition). I am very much looking forward to being able to celebrate our Year 13’s achievements on Tuesday evening. It will be a new experience to have a laptop ceremony and one that will be remembered for a long time to come.
Finally, next week you should receive a letter about your children’s school photos. These have finally arrived and we will be informing you how you can collect and purchase pictures if you wish to. Keep an eye on your emails as usual.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Ian Gross
