From the Principal 06.03.2021
Dear KIS Community,
The first week of March has flown by and now we excitedly look forward to seeing all students back in school on Monday. Heads of School will have written to you yesterday to remind you all of expectations in school to support the wellbeing of all community members whilst in school. The full SOP for safety can be read on the school website. Please take the time to make sure your children are aware of what to expect from Monday.
Please note, if your child is feeling unwell and displaying any flu like symptoms, do not send them to school and seek medical advice. Please then inform the school for further guidance.
With everyone being back in school, it is worth reminding our community that KIS is now a single use plastic bag free school. Please do not bring these bags into school.
With time going by, it’s hard to believe that we will be having our CIS reaccreditation visit in two weeks. Virtual meetings start on Sunday 21st March with Members of the Board and the School’s Leadership Team. The following three and a half days will then be filled with virtual meetings with staff, students and parents as well as lesson observations and virtual tours throughout those days. If you wish to be involved please do let me know.
Unfortunately, due to work relocation, we are saying goodbye to the Chair of our Board of Governors this month. My sincere thanks to Martin Forsyth for his time and commitment on the Board and recently as Chair since November and in particular for his support for KIS and myself over these past few months. We wish you and your family well as you travel on to Australia.
The Board met earlier in the week and I am pleased to announce that Dr Nick Pilcher has agreed to continue as Board Chair for the remainder of this year. Nick has been with KIS for some considerable time and many of you will remember his time as Chair of the Board previously. This does of course mean that the Board of Governors is looking for a new member to be coopted on to the Board (no public vote is required in this instance), as per the constitution, on this occasion, the Board requires a non-Malaysian parent to join. If you are interested please contact Elis Ho (elish@kis.edu.my) or Nick Pilcher (boardchair@kis.edu.my) for further details.
I would like to welcome the newest member of the KIS community, Amrey (part of our wonderful ground staff team) has just become a father for the first time earlier this week and welcomed a baby boy into his family. Both Mother and baby are doing well. Congratulations Amrey!
Finally, you can read through the latest edition of KIS Today, the student’s newsletter on the school website, here.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend and looking forward to seeing you on Monday, which is also International Women’s Day.
