Saturday 4th February

Dear KIS Community,

Welcome back to school, it has been wonderful seeing everyone looking so refreshed, ready and engaged with their learning. The start after a holiday is like a clean sheet of paper, ready for ideas and potential to be reached.

Thank you to the parents who have already put the KIS car sticker on their back windows, it’s lovely to see people showing they care about safe driving. If you didn’t get a car sticker, pop by the school office to collect. Let’s work together to help make the roads safer for our children. Please remember to not use your hand phone whilst driving and making sure everyone is wearing a seatbelt.

In mentioning children’s safety, you may have seen some news articles about a child’s toy called “Lato-Lato”, two heavy balls tied together by a piece of string. Due to some incidents (none at KIS) the Ministry of Education has announced a school-wide ban on these toys, and we ask you to make sure that your children do not bring these to school.

Next week we see the welcome return of our “Drop Off & Drop In” coffee morning. On Wednesday at 8am in the MPR we will be discussing assessments at KIS, what they are and what they mean. Everyone is welcome from Primary and Secondary.

Also starting next week, we will be collecting empty milk cartoons. Similar to the plastic bottle collection we ran last year, we will be collecting clean, empty and flat milk cartons at the front of school. This is in collaboration with the Tanjung Aru Marine Ecosystem centre (TAME) for upcycling. More information will be posted soon, so start collecting.

Wishing you a lovely weekend,
