Dear KIS Community,
This past week has been incredible. Summer Fair, Science Day, Art Day, KIS Has Talent, Final Assemblies and a VVIP Visit. Thank you so much to all our staff that have made this possible, you are awesome! Thank you to our students, you are fantastic! Thank you to our Parents you were stunning!
You can read about the summer fair in this edition, thank you Ms Ann and team for a great community get together. The Science department and Ms Fulat created a wonderful day of inspiration, experimentation and a little perspiration. The Art Day was created beautifully by Ms Yuen and Mrs Adams and was complimented so well by the Talent Show with thanks to Mr Fletcher and Mr Bryant. Our students are so talented and confident, it was truly inspiring.
On the last day of school we had the pleasure of hosting a short visit from the Foreign Minister for Australia, Senator Penny Wong, her Brother James, and the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Dr Justin Lee. More importantly, Penny and James are alumni of KIS. In fact, Penny was the 19th student to join KIS when it opened in 1973. As we head towards our 50th anniversary, this really was a significant visit for us. Penny truly represents our mission for nurturing global citizens.

Penny and all her siblings were taught at KIS and whilst Penny herself was taught in the original school house in Likas, her Father, Datuk Francis Wong, was the architect for the first building for our school here in Bukit Padang. Her younger brother James, also an architect, was responsible for the interior design renovation of our offices. As with many of our KIS families, their connection with school has been a long and supportive one.
As we head into our holidays, we wish leaving members of our community all the very best and ask that you stay in touch. We have much work to do during the holidays in preparation for when the new school year starts again on Monday 15th August. See you then.
Happy Holidays,
Ian Gross
