From the Head of Secondary 28.05.2022

Friday morning was quite an exciting time for our Duke of Edinburgh staff and student teams with the arrival of new tents. It was important that they were all checked so as to ensure that all of the ‘bits and pieces’ were there. The students, under the supervision of Miss McNutt and Mr Williams worked in teams that put the tents up. Have a look at the photos to see how they got on!

At this time of year, as well as all of the preparation for all of the happenings that are taking place this term, we have been planning the school calendar for 2022 – 2023. It is rather exciting to feel some confidence that we will indeed be able to hold the sheer number and variety of events that we held before the pandemic struck. We had a taste of such recently, with the Car Boot Sale last Saturday, and the Harvest Festival celebration on Wednesday; it was great to see the whole school coming together to enjoy the spectacle of the Kamaantaan dances [and even joining in!].

As we approach the half term break, we know that our students in Secondary will be spending time preparing for their examinations, which start on Tuesday 7th June. On Wednesday in assembly the students listened to some advice from Year 9 about how to handle the exams and everything that comes with them, including potentially raised stress levels. I would like the students to remember all of the advice that they have been given, and make sure that they do not allow revision stress to dominate what should also be a week’s break which includes plenty of sleep and time for family and hobbies.

Cambridge exams continue next week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and we wish all of the students taking those the very best of luck!

Kind regards

Mrs Margaret Renshaw

Deputy Principal / Head of Secondary
