Global Citizen Award: Invitation for Nominees

As many of our community know, every year a student is awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Award. At this time of year, nominations are invited from students, staff and parents.

The profile of the selected student must be aligned with the school’s vision of Global Citizenship:

A global citizen understands that we are all connected, upholds the values of equality and actively contributes to the development of a better world.

Global Citizens

  • have an awareness of the wider world and a sense of their own role within it
  • respect and value diversity
  • are committed to social justice, equality and sustainability
  • participate in the community at a range of levels, from local to global
  • take responsibility for their actions

Global Citizenship involves:

  • Enquiring, discussing, thinking critically, reflecting and collaborating
  • Exploring the complexity of global issues and engaging with multiple perspectives
  • Applying learning to real-life issues and contexts
  • All ages and all areas of the curriculum
  • The whole school community

If you would like to nominate a student to be considered for this award, please email me margaretrenshaw@kis.edu.my. You must include the student’s name, form and detailed information as to why you think they should receive this award. Please remember that this is open to all students, from Year 7 to Year 13. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday 20th April 2022.

Year 7 to 10 Reports: staff are currently working hard to finalise the reports with the aim that they will be sent out next Tuesday, the 29th March

Book Week: Excitement is building and tension is rising with just this weekend to go before we launch this year’s Book Week, a major annual event. All thanks to staff and in particular our teacher librarian Mrs Colbeck in advance for what is bound to be another tremendous success. Book Week will culminate in our traditional end of term assembly next Friday where we will be distributing merit awards and delivering the news about the final House points for this term (always eagerly awaited).

Friday 1st April: School will finish at the traditional end of term time, 12pm, for Secondary students.

Have a wonderful weekend!
