From the Head of Secondary 10.06.2023

The IGCSE and A Level exams are over for another year! Well done to all our Year 11, 12 and 13 students. It’s been a marathon, but I know that they have all risen to the challenge and they can now relax a little and wait for the results, which they will receive mid-August.

Our Year 12 students will be back in school next Monday, and they are starting their Year 13 studies. In addition, we are running the Careers Days, which includes the University Fair, from the 26th to the 28th June and they will participate in an array of activities together with our Year 10 students. Next Friday, the 16th, we have a really special event, our Year 13 Graduation! For some weeks (even months) planning has been afoot for this highlight, not just of the KIS year, but also in the lives of these young people, and one which they will never forget. It will be very much a community-orientated event, with friends, family, entertaining speeches and videos, caps, gowns, certificates, photographs, gifts and delicious food!

Just in case that isn’t enough excitement, we have the Prom on the 17th. This is a student-led event, and has been planned for a very long time. Before both of these events we have ‘Macbeth’, and this is going to be a real spectacular!  If you haven’t yet got your tickets, you had better rush and get them before they sell out! A bargain at 20RM, with all proceeds going towards future school productions.

This week our Year 7 to 10 students have been taking their internal exams, and these will continue next week. For some it has been a huge learning curve which is not surprising as such very formal tests only happen once a year. Teachers are marking papers and these will be returned to groups once all the exams are finished. Reports will include exam %s and grades as well as term grades and comments, and they will be sent out on the 27th June.

Read on to find out what is happening with the Eco Warriors and about a beach-clean that is happening on Sunday 18th June.

Have a lovely weekend!

Kind regards

Mrs Margaret Renshaw
