From the Head of Primary 28.05.2022
This week, in our assembly, we continued with the theme of digital resilience. The students made an online pledge.
Our KIS Online Pledge:
- We check age restrictions on websites we visit.
- We keep personal information private.
- We respect others’ privacy online.
- We take a break from screens and enjoy other activities.
- We use kind words in all online communication.
- We speak to a trusted adult about anything online that upsets us.
- We think carefully before sharing or forwarding anything online.
- We use the Internet to help us learn and play.
You can help by ensuring your child follows this at home as well.
A huge congratulations to the Primary Student Council who raised a massive RM600 at their Bric-a-Brac sale last weekend at the Car Boot Sale. The proceeds will go towards new play equipment for the students.
This week’s Trashless Class winners are:
Year 6K – who are using lots of scrap paper and doing a great job at conserving energy.
Well done to them.
Fion in Year 6, is on a campaign to reduce our school food waste as she has noticed there seems to be a lot! Here are her top tips to help:
Top tips for reducing food waste
- Get involved when your parents are ordering your food from the canteen so that you can decide what you want to have.
- Help prepare your snacks or lunches if you are bringing them from home and make sure you bring the right amount.
- Make sure that you don’t rush to eat so that you finish your food before going to play. Enjoy sharing the day’s happenings with friends.
- You are encouraged to drink plain water rather than sweet or soft drinks while having your meal.
- If you are planning to buy some food from the canteen, you should finish your food before buying.
- Take the right amount of food during snack time so that your stomach is not full when it’s lunchtime.

On that note, our playtimes are returning to the normal time of 10am after the holiday, therefore please make sure your child has a filling breakfast to keep them going until snack time and not too much snack, so that they can eat all their lunch!
Check out our Stars of the Week and our Bronze, Silver and Gold House Point Certificate winners!

Have a wonderful holiday and I will see you all on the 7th June.
Take care.
School Trips this week:

The Year 2s travelled across to Gaya Island on Friday to visit the Marine Ecology Research Centre (MERC) to see and learn more about the reefs and marine life found here in Borneo.
We were able to enjoy the educational display of reefs and marine life in the visitor’s centre and hear from the experts about the corals and their importance in the ecosystem. The Year 2s were also lucky enough to see and touch a variety of marine animals like starfish and sea cucumbers in the touch tank.
We also learned about the important work that MERC are doing with the giant clam cultivation and coral replanting. The Year 2s even planted their own coral to help our recovering reefs. It was a fantastic day out and such a joy to see the children enjoying their learning outside of the classroom!
