From the Head of Primary 28.03.2020

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your overwhelming support has been invaluable at this challenging time. As you know class and subject teachers have been working very hard to provide home learning for your children and they are doing a fabulous job of listening to your feedback and adapting lesson content and activities as best they can. We are trying to strike a fine balance between screen time and practical learning tasks to suit all families. Please remember you can only do what you can do. Prioritise the completion of reading, writing and maths tasks and take part in a daily physical activity. It is important to stay in regular contact with family and friends and I know that the children in KS2 have been doing a great job of this. Only one more week of home learning to go and then we will break for the Easter holiday. I will be in touch with a list of useful websites that you can access during the break.

Today is Earth Day!

‘Started by WWF and partners as a symbolic lights-out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now one of the world’s largest grassroots movements for the environment, engaging millions of people in more than 180 countries and territories. It has become a catalyst for positive environmental impact, driving major legislative changes by harnessing the power of the people.’

If you would like to support Earth Day, switch off your lights at home for an hour on Saturday, March 28, at 8:30 pm. People in other countries all over the world will be doing the same and will be switching their lights off at 8.30 pm local time. If 8.30 pm is past bedtime try switching your lights off just after it gets dark here in Sabah. Here are some ideas of what you could do as a family while lights are out.

  • Have dinner in the dark
  • Read or play a board game by candlelight
  • Write a letter to your future eco warrior self
  • Dance in the dark to a silent disco

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
