From the Head of Primary 25.06.2022

The week was kick-started by the PE department with a series of sports mornings for each year group over four days. The students performed superbly in their first event of this kind in over two years. Parents came to watch and I believe there was some fierce competition between the parents and the staff in the Tug of War event! A massive thank you to Miss Watt, Mr Bromley, Mr Watson and Mr Celestial for all the effort that went into organising these events. The students were in their element and didn’t even let the rain spoil it for them.

Y2 Assembly

The message delivered by the Y2s in their assembly was an extremely important one. They told us about the importance of looking after our oceans and the sea animals after their visit to Merc and learning all about the conservation that is happening there. Well done Y2!

Y1 Assembly

The Y1 assembly was truly wonderful. The students shared a story with us about their term three in school where they learnt about Jack and the Beanstalk, wrote their own endings to the story and grew their own special beans. Well done Y1!

Y5 Showcase

It was fantastic to see all the amazing work that the Y5 students put into their Eco-Tourism topic. The groups each designed their own eco-resorts which I only wish were real as I would love to visit all of them. They sounded so relaxing and full of fabulous amenities.  The technology involved in their presentations was extremely impressive with QR codes to view brochures and use of the HaloAR app to link pictures to videos or documents of their work. Well done Y5!

This week’s Trashless Class winners are: Year 5. Well done to them.

Check out our Stars of the Week and our Bronze, Silver, Gold and Head Teacher Award winners!

Next week, we have a whole host of fun activities as well. Monday is Science Day, Tuesday is Class Party Day and Wednesday is Arts Day. It will be a fabulous finale to what has been an amazing term. I am delighted that the final term of my first year as a head somewhat resembled pre-covid life in Primary and I am truly looking forward to a normal academic year from August.

I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the Student Council, the Y2 and Y6 House Captains and the Y5 and Y6 prefects for being so incredibly passionate about their roles. They have been superb role models for the other students. We will be saying goodbye to some of these students as they move on to secondary or new countries and we wish them all the best for the future.
