From the Head of Primary 15.04.2023
Welcome to Term Three!
And what an amazing term the primary team have planned for your children. This term is jam packed with class assemblies, trips out of school, special days and celebrations, not to mention the fabulous curriculum lessons they will be teaching every day. Yesterday you should have received, via Class dojo, the medium term planning (MTP) for the term which will explain the learning that will be happening in your child’s class as well as their Homework Grid.
In this week’s assembly we celebrated: Birthdays, Stars of the Week, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Head Teachers Awards. We also talked about Shared Responsibility. We have a whole range of responsibilities: moral responsibilities; legal responsibilities; family responsibilities; community responsibilities; responsibilities to customs, traditions, beliefs and rules and personal responsibilities.
We discussed how important it is to: take care of ourselves and others; take care of our things and other people’s; keep our promises; help to take care of our homes, schools, communities and even the world.
Being Global Citizens, we have the huge responsibility of looking after our world. There are lots of things we can do to look after our world. Ask your child about the different ways we can help to look after our environment.
Next week we can put these ideas into action by helping to take part in Earth Week. The Eco Warriors have been busy deciding a theme for each day to help us celebrate. They hope that all the KIS community take part in order to make it a fun but thought-provoking week:
- Meat Free Monday
- Take a Lift Tuesday
- Waste Less Wednesday
- Thrifty Thursday
- Feel Green Friday
Also next week, your child will be taking part in a Science Competition ‘Flying High’. All students will take part during their topic lessons. Their challenge is to show ingenuity, innovation, perseverance and apply their science skills in order to design and build a machine that flies. There will be a Winner and Runner Up from each Year Group. Winners will be announced in May. Good Luck Primary!
This week the Spotlight is on Y1………….
They have been super busy creating wonderful artwork from nature!

A date for your diary…

Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to some new students and their families who joined us in primary this week:
Angeleyah and Philip in Y1
Jasper in Y4
Have a wonderful weekend.
Take care.
