Welcome Back!

Term 2 has started in a rather calm manner which is just wonderful! Everybody has thrown themselves straight back into their learning. The primary teaching team have been busy making plans for more showcases and assemblies in order to involve you in this learning. Getting involved in your child’s education is a great way to increase your child’s confidence, self-esteem and motivation as well as help to improve their grades. Take the time to talk to your child about all the amazing things they are learning in school.

We are also busy planning trips and for KS2 beginning to look at our overnight residential trips. Going on school trips really helps students gain real-world experience that cannot be taught in a classroom, opening their minds to different cultures and strengthening their knowledge of the world around them.

The following are some of the key benefits of students undertaking school trips:

  • Bring subjects to life
  • Boost self-confidence
  • Increase motivation
  • Encourage good behaviour
  • Broaden their horizons

Please ensure you are connected to Class Dojo and that we have your correct email address so that you don’t miss out on any of these exciting opportunities.

This week, in our celebration assembly, we welcomed the New Year with a discussion of celebrations around the world. We celebrated the Stars of the Week and gave out Bronze and Silver certificates!

Yesterday, the learning for this term (MTPs) and the Homework Grids were posted on Class Dojo. Please look out for these and if you have any questions speak to the class teacher.

We also celebrated our House Colour Day yesterday, with the children dressing up in the colours that represent their houses. This is a lovely opportunity for them to engage with secondary students in their house and develop the camaraderie the house system is designed to create. As I am in all houses, it is great to see everyone getting involved and enjoying their time at school together.

With a new year, we also welcome many new families to the KIS community. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming:

  • Zi Shan, Cathy and Sylvan – F1
  • Asami – F2
  • EK and Sophia – Y2
  • Jasmine – 4K
  • Paul, Mark, Marcus, Emma and Mia – Y5
  • Raphael – Y6

Have a wonderful weekend!

Mr Mark Beresford
