From the Head of Primary 08.05.2021
What a week we’ve all had at school going bonkers for Book Week! The stunning and impressive array of costumes on Friday were fabulous and a sight to behold. Among the aliens and robots we had Rainbow Fish, the Hungry Caterpillar, Cinderella, Paddington Bear and Willy Wonka to name but a few. The entire Early Years team dressed in their underpants and recreated the book Aliens love Underpants which perfectly fitted with the theme. As well as coming to school in fancy dress on Friday we all celebrated bed time reading by coming to school on Thursday in our pyjamas and I must say that I am now a big fan of wearing my lounge wear to work. Throughout the week we all had the opportunity to take part in a number of book related activities including drop it and read, a book swap and the big read on Monday morning. The book boards created by each year group look amazing and I hope you were able to enjoy looking at them during pick up on Friday. A lot of fun was had by all but most importantly as a school, we raised the profile of reading. Thank you to Mrs Colbeck for organising such a great week.

Continuing with the theme of special weeks in school, our plans for Activity/Wellness Week are coming together nicely. It is unfortunate that we will not be able to offer trips and residentials but staff have been working hard to organise a week that we hope will be enjoyed by all. So far we have pottery classes arranged, an Iron Man assault course, a magician, a myriad of mindful activities, a visit from Scubazoo and karaoke for all.
Next week is a three day week and then we are back in school for one more week before half term. We will soon find ourselves in June with only two full weeks left in school before the summer break.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Rice Donation Appeal

The Charity Committee is partnering with the MFL department to run the Rice Donation Appeal again this year.
We are asking for donations of rice (preferably 5kg bags) for local mosques. This is to help during what has been a difficult year and to make the Eid celebrations special during this time of giving.
We understand that this is short notice, but we would appreciate any donations that you can make. Secondary students from the Charity Committee will be waiting on the benches by the front of the school on Monday and Tuesday morning next week to receive your donations.
Thank you so much in advance.
