From the Head of PE & Sport 27.01.2024
Another week has flown by faster than our Primary students practicing for their upcoming Sports Day!
Students in Years 1-6 are all working very hard in their PE lessons presently to prepare themselves for the big event taking place on Tuesday 27th February.
Parents will receive a letter with all the details via email next week and we are very much looking forward to welcoming students and parents down to share in what is sure to be a fantastic day.
19th Big Sky Tyre U14 Basketball Championships
So far, only the boys have had a chance to showcase their skills on the court and already proven themselves to be final contenders with some great results. The girls have been patiently waiting for their first match which will take place on Friday night against KK High School A.
The boys have progressed from the group stage of the competition with 2 wins and 1 loss.
KIS 24 – 53 KKHigh School A (L)
KIS 44 – 35 Tuaran (W)
KIS 53 – 19 Lok Yuk X Creator Red (W)
The next stage of the competition for the boys sees them placed in another group together with Bravely Basketball Club and Lok Yuk X Creator Yellow. From this mini round-robin, where each team will face each other, the top placed team will progress to the Final while the 2nd placed team will progress to the 3rd/4th Playoff match. Best of luck to the boys and I look forward to reporting on their final results next week.
Come down to Luyang Community Hall on Sunday to catch the boys Finals and the girls second game against KK High School B. Games will start at 4:00pm and the Girls will play their second match to determine their final position in the tournament at 5:30pm.

Liga SupaRimau Season A – Kicks off TODAY!!!
Before this newsletter had even hit your inbox’s, many of our KIS community were already down at Likas Football pitch for our first matches of the new Liga SupaRimau season. Our Under 8’s, Under 10’s and Under 12 teams are all taking to the field at 8:00am. I’ll be down cheering on our Vipers and if you are in the neighborhood, come down and join us!

A reminder that the Season A Fees were due yesterday (Friday 26th January). If you have not already done so, please arrange payment ASAP to the front office or by bank transfer (for payment reference please use “Liga Season A *child’s name*” so we can more easily track your payment. The Season Fee is different for each team so please check below.
Under 8’s = RM250
Under 10’s = RM230
Under 12’s = RM260

Floorball Training
A reminder that this weekend we are launching our Floorball training sessions. Even if you can’t make it tomorrow, you can still register for upcoming sessions by completing the Google Form that will be sent out to students each week.
It will cost RM10 per student, per session. We must have a minimum of 10 students otherwise the session will be cancelled. Sticks will be provided by the school but Coach Shawn encourages those who wish to take Floorball further to purchase their own stick so it is height appropriate.

U13’s FOBISIA (19th-23rd February)
U13 FOBISIA Basketball Tournament – Sunday 4th February
We will be hosting our U13 Basketball Invitational next Sunday 4th February at school. This will present a lot of our players with the opportunity to apply the skills they have been developing at training in a competitive environment under pressure. Learning how to compete and manage their emotions in competitive game play is a hugely important aspect of sport and will hopefully serve the players well for when they travel to Thailand in just 4 weeks for the competition.
- All training sessions will be onsite next week.
Primary FOBISIA (29th April-3rd May) – Dates for your diary
- Final reminder that the 2nd payment which will be used to purchase flights was due yesterday Friday 26th January. We were still missing a number of these payments on Friday. Please help ensure that we can proceed quickly with this next stage of the trip by completing this payment ASAP. Reminder emails will go home to parents on Monday if needed.
