Early Years Superhero Sports Day!!

It was a wonderful (and tiring!) Wednesday morning as we welcomed our superheroes into the hall. The students were full of energy and ready to complete their missions in our superhero-themed event, and it was nothing short of a SUPER morning for all involved! The event was masterfully created by our PE Departments’ very own superhero, Mr Watson – or was it Luigi!

It was nice for us to see the students demonstrate their learning and put a multitude of skills on display including agility, balance and coordination. In total, our Superheroes completed six missions and due to the noise and excitement it was hard to tell which one was their favourite so that might need to be a conversation at home.

The event was masterfully created by our PE Departments very own superhero, Mr Watson – or was it Luigi! Thank you to all members of staff who supported the event and a big thank you to the parents for taking the time to dress the students up and coming along to support them on their missions. We certainly hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!

Check out all the photos to see our superheroes in action!

U15 Spritzer Basketball Tournament

Over the course of the past week, I have had the pleasure of supporting our boys and girls basketball teams compete at the U15 Spritzer Cup hosted by KK Basketball association being played at Luyang Community Hall. Heart rates have been high, and the grey hairs are multiplying following some very exciting and nerve wracking matches.

Our KIS Vipers teams have done themselves proud throughout the competition and come away with not only some fantastic team performances and victories, but also greater confidence and self-belief that they can compete in big competitions against big schools and basketball teams.

It is exciting to see the tremendous amount of progress that has been made since their last competition in February. The students have been dedicating a great deal of time to training outside of school and have been rewarded for their efforts. It is a great reminder for all of us that no matter what your goals and ambitions are, talent and luck will only get you so far, but it’s the dedicated effort and resilience to bounce back from setbacks and defeats that can really drive success.

“The key is not the will to win … everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important.” – Bobby Knight (Basketball)

The other lovely takeaway from this tournament has been seeing the incredible, and very vocal, support and camaraderie each night with the boys and girls teams coming out to cheer each other on at every game, as well as lots of friends and families joining in with boisterous cheering from their chairs. It really highlights what a wonderfully supportive and active KIS community we have once again.

Thursday night saw the conclusion of the group games which saw the girls win 2 out of 3 of their matches to progress into the semi-finals while the boys won all 3 of their group games to move into the quarter finals as the 1st place team of their group.

GIRLS BOYS
KIS 43 – 12 TSHUNG TSIN X JIS KIS 25 – 20 TSHUNG TSIN (GONET)
KIS 33 – 10 TSHUNG TSIN  RISER X JIS 42 – 47 KIS
KKHS AD ASIA A 78 – 14 KIS  KIS 40 – 37 KKHS AD ASIA D

The boys played their quarter final on Friday night. However, at the time of writing my crystal ball has been unable to predict the result so you will have to wait for news on that next week!

This afternoon, Saturday at 5:00pm the girls will play Tshung Tsin Deevin in what will be a tough semi-final match up. I have no doubt that the girls will rise to the occasion though and put into practice the lessons they have already learnt from their first few games and put in a top performance!

If you would like to come and support the team, the match will be played at Luyang Community Hall.
