From the Head of PE and Sport 23.09.2023

It’s a busy day for sport at KIS today! If you want to catch some of the action and join the cheer squads then pour your coffee into a travel mug and head down to support our Vipers in action at either Likas Football Field in Round 2 of Liga SupaRimau, or, come to school and watch our U15 FOBISIA Vipers take on St Francis and Maktab Nasional in our U15 Basketball Invitational Tournament. It’s sure to be a wonderful weekend of sporting action for all involved! 

Times for these events are.

Liga SupaRimau Match Kickoff times:

Under 8’s = 9:00am

Under 10’s = 9:00am

Under 12’s = 9:00am

KIS U15 Basketball Tournament Tip-off times:

KIS Vipers vs SMK St Francis Convent = 8:30

KIS Care Week and the Mindful Mile

As part of KIS Care Week 2023 which is running from the 2nd – 6th October, Mr Denyer has organised the Mindfulness Mile. Students may opt to walk and chat with friends or run the mile at a pace they are comfortable with. The focus is on mental health and the benefits exercise brings rather than elements of competition.

This will be for Secondary on Tuesday 3rd October during PSHE time (14:00 – 15:00). Students may wear their PE Kit all day for this event. 

For Primary, this will be on Thursday 5th October, starting at 7:45 a.m. All students may wear their PE kit and join in the mile before returning to lessons slightly later than usual. 

We look forward to seeing students and staff taking part in the event and promoting this year’s theme of “mental health is a universal human right”.

Liga SupaRimau 

Following today’s matches, LSR will have a break over the next couple of weeks due to Public Holidays but will resume again on the 14th October.

FOBISIA News

U15 FOBISIA (Oct. 23-27) – Dates for your diary 

• Tuesday 3rd October: Final swimming training session @ Penampang Pool. Pick up 4:15pm. 

The Final Payment for U15 FOBISIA Games is due on Wednesday 27th September. We ask for your help in making sure that this final payment of RM1850 is paid on time. If you have any concerns about this deadline then please do not hesitate to contact me. cwatt@kis.edu.my 

U13 FOBISIA (Feb. 19-23) – Let’s go Vipers!

We now have a complete squad for both Boys and Girls for the U13 FOBISIA Games which is fantastic! Information will be sent out to parents in the next couple of weeks regarding training which will commence after the half-term. With numbers for the girls still low, I am happy to continue accepting any late registrations. Please register by clicking the link here. 

Primary FOBISIA Games (April 29th-May 3rd) – REGISTRATIONS FILLING FAST!

We have had a wonderfully positive response to our FOBISIA Primary Games registrations with 9 girls and 7 boys already signed up. Please make sure you complete the Google Form here and pay the RM1500 deposit by no later than Friday 3rd November.
