From the Head of PE and Sport 19.09.2020
With sporting competitions now starting back up again under tight SOPs and ministerial guidelines, it is great that students are now having the opportunity to access competitive sports once again outside of school.
Last year, we were often excited to relay news of Timothy (11S) and his numerous successes in golf. During the week, Timothy was bestowed another high level honour and acknowledgement of his tremendous talent by being selected in the Malaysian Men’s National Team for 2020-21. Selection in this group will ensure he receives national level support as he continues to pursue his dreams of one day taking to the fairway on the USA PGA tour. Timothy is already currently playing in Open Professional Tournaments as an amateur around Asis, though he is presently restricted to tournaments hosted in Malaysia.
Timothy will take his IGCSE exams this year, and he is already looking to the future and considering the possibility of attending college in the US, hopeful to secure a golf scholarship which would be another step in reaching his ultimate goals of becoming a fully professional golfer on the world tour.
Congratulations to Timothy and we look forward to being able to report many more successes throughout the coming year!
KIS are fortunate to have many talented junior sporting superstars who quietly go about their training and participation in competitions both locally and further afield, often achieving a lot of success within their chosen sports. It is always wonderful when students share with us any exciting news that they have which can then announce and celebrate their successes with the entire KIS community.
KS3 Girls Futsal Club
There are still some spaces available for the KS3 Girls Futsal Club that is taking place at Borneo Sports Arena from 4:00-5:00pm on Tuesday afternoons. The girls had a great time in the first session and we would welcome any players who are interested in becoming better futsal or footballers to come along and join in the fun.
I would also now like to extend the invitation to any girls in Year 6 who may wish to join.
Please contact me directly if you are interested in signing up your child.
