RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

With our Random Act of Kindness event still continuing, this week I quizzed Year 9 about any kindnesses they have received from the Year 4 students. Although these might seem like small gestures, when Wesley was told that he was cool, Tony received a high-five and Riyad was patted on the head, all three of them were delighted and it certainly made them smile. It was also good to hear that there have also been lots of compliments being passed around: Rain was told that she was a nice person, Katie that she has nice hair and Vivian and Sharan were both informed of how pretty they are.
It was my turn to smile when I heard about some of the thoughtful gifts that have been shared, with Enzo receiving a box with a biscuit and a nice message, Dasha being given some stickers which she has already used to decorate her laptop and Pui San – on her birthday no less – was gifted with some handmade origami! Sean, Keira and Sophie were also very happy with their homemade cards and the kind messages their Year 4 matches had taken the time to write to them. Although I am impressed with everyone’s generosity, I think my favourite Random Act of Kindness for this week goes to the Year 4 student who took the time to teach Maya some Welsh!
In the rest of Secondary, Ms Young rewarded her Year 10 students – who have being working ‘above and beyond’ in English – with some personalised pens and post-it notes to show her appreciation. I would also like to give a special mention to Miqail in Year 10 who went out of his way to comfort a Year 7 student who was upset during lunchtime and Ms McPherson for brightening my day with a Thank You postcard which was left on my desk this morning. Finally, Ken Zi, Myko and the rest of the basketball players would like Ms Watt and Mr Watson to know how much they have appreciated all the post-game high fives, after they have been cheering them through their matches every evening this week.
Although the event is scheduled to end on June 9th, I hope that everyone is inspired to keep up with the kindnesses as we enter into the last month of the school year. In the meantime, if you have any stories of Random Acts of Kindness that you would like to share, please let me know!
