The Sabah Foundation

Over the past few weeks I have been in discussions with Monica and Stephen from The Sabah Foundation (http://www.thesabahfoundation.com/). They have been in discussions with the Mayor of KK to promote a song that has been written for children to highlight the problems facing our oceans due to pollution. The Sabah Foundation have asked if we can help them launch their song in Sabah and across Malaysia. We will be the first of many schools to have access to the song and to perform it to help highlight the problem of pollution that we are facing.

All Key Stage Two students have already begun learning the lyrics to this song in both BM and English (a BM version of the song can be found on the website above) and we are hoping that the performance the children give will be an amazing beginning to their campaign.

A videography crew from the Sabah Foundation will be in school on the morning of Monday 4th March to take images for the song and to record all KS2 children singing the song. The Sabah Foundation are also hoping to have members of the local press in school for this professional filming. I understand that there are some parents who are not comfortable with having their child’s images used in public forums, if you would not like to have your child included in the images, please send me an email by Sunday 3rd March and I will ensure that they are not included in this performance.

Primary Trips

Last Thursday saw Year 3 have a lovely trip to UMS to find out more about food and nutrition. The highlight of the day for all was the chocolate tasting that happened. The students were also very lucky to be able to participate in the cooking and preparation of their own lunch for the day.

Next week sees the beginning of our residential trips for the academic year. Year 6 will be leaving tomorrow to go to Penang for the week to help support their learning about World War Two in the Asia-Pacific region.

Later this term Years 3 and 5 are looking forward to their residential trips, as well as many other field trips taking place.
