From the Head of Primary 04.09.2021

Although it has only been a four-day week, it has been very busy in Primary. Along with teaching a number of classes myself this week, I have also popped into a range of lessons across the primary school and it has been fantastic to see the incredible work that is happening online. The variety of platforms and activities that are being used to engage, motivate and enthuse students about their learning really is amazing! I am sure you will join me in saying a huge thank you to all the teachers and TLAs who are working so hard to create such wonderful learning opportunities for your children.

I also had the great pleasure of meeting with some of the Class Ambassadors this week. The CAs support and facilitate liaison between the teachers, the PTA and the parent community and take very good care of the parents in each class. You can find out more about the Class Ambassadors role and who they are for your child’s year group here:

Once again, our Friday assembly focused on student leadership with the much anticipated announcement of the Year 6 House Captains. A huge congratulations to all the Year 6 children who were brave enough to present to the rest of the school last week. The successful candidates are:

During this week’s assembly we heard from the Year 2 House Captain candidates who did an excellent job of presenting their speeches to the rest of the school. No easy feat when you are six going on seven! We are all looking forward to finding out who will be announced as the Y2 House Captains next week. Next Friday will also be our very first House Colour Day! We would like to invite all students to dress in their house colours for the entire day – look out for more information from Mrs Fletcher on Class Dojo.

Continuing with the theme of student leadership, next week each class will vote for a Student Council representative. We will also hear from Miss Gibbons about the Eco Warriors; Miss Kerry about the Library Cadets and Miss Ann about the Charity Committee and how students can apply for these roles.

Finally, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to a returning student and her family who joined us this week:

Clemence Dousset (Y4K)

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
