From the Head of Primary 21.11.2020
This week in preparation for International Week and Global Goals week, our Primary assembly focused on both of these events. Ms Hitchen talked to the children about Global Goals which were adopted by all the United Nations Member States in 2015. They are also known as the Sustainable Development Goals and are a universal approach to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
Throughout the year, children across Primary and Secondary focus on a number of different Global Goals that tie in with the taught curriculum every term. Global Goals week at KIS is designed to raise awareness of the 17 Goals and is an opportunity for us to come together as a community and focus on sustainable development. Next week, there will be an opportunity for Primary children and parents to further focus on these Goals during topic lessons and to also attend a number of online talks presented by our expert guest speakers. More details can be found on Dojo on Monday and also check out the Global Goals website https://www.globalgoals.org/
We will also be celebrating International Week next week and of course this will look very different this year. As we will be unable to have the usual International Day Parade of Nations, I have asked the children to log into assembly next week dressed in a chosen traditional costume. I will try my best to host an online catwalk so that we can celebrate our diversity and admire one another’s traditional dress. On Monday you will be able to access an International Week grid of ideas and activities that you can take part in.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
