From the Head of Primary 21.09.2019
The tension across the school is building for International Day and I am looking forward to experiencing this event KIS style. The sights and sounds planned promise to make it a day to remember and our teachers are working hard to prepare a number of international themed activities for the children in Primary to enjoy. If you haven’t already, please purchase your vouchers for the big day.
In this week’s celebration assembly the children were very excited to find out about the adoption of two beautiful Sun Bears. After learning about conservation at school last year, Aiden, Elliot and Caper Enderby decided that they wanted to adopt two Sun Bears on behalf of KIS. One of our furry friends is called Joe who was found in the forest at just three months old and the other is Kala who arrived at Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre in January 2015. We spent some time in assembly finding out about Sun Bears and their habitat and look forward to regular updates on Joe and Kala’s progress.
Next week we will hold our first parent/teacher meeting of the school year. The aim of this meeting is for you to meet with your class teacher if you haven’t already and find out more about how your child has settled into school this year. This meeting is part of the Primary reporting cycle to parents.
Term 1.1 Parent/Teacher meeting
Term 1.2 Interim Report
Term 2.1 Parent/Teacher meeting
Term 2.2 Interim Report
Term 3 End of year full written report.
As requested, please look out next week for information regarding year group end of year learning objectives in Reading, Writing and Maths. This information will be presented with details of our new assessment and tracking system and can be found on Class Dojo next Friday. If you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Finally, a very warm welcome to our new families in Primary.
