Word of the Week! 14.09.19
The English Department was exceedingly impressed with the range of imaginative and ambitious word choices our students had to offer this week. The following three are our top picks for the first round of the competition:
In first place, winning five house points for Sapi, is Farah Thien from 8S with the rarely used noun, philophobia – She told the whole school she suffered from philophobia.
In second place, scoring four more house points for Sapi, was Toby Garrick from 8S with the onomatopeic, ‘cacophony’ – There was a cacophony of deafening alarm bells.
Finally, in third place, winning three house points for Gaya this time, was Isaac Lee from 8K with his dramatic entry of ‘charlatan’ – Imagine exposing this charlatan and revealing his lies to the city!
Congratulations to the winners and well done to Year 8!
