Word of the Week! 25.01.2020
Mr Graham, new to KIS, was exceedingly impressed with the range of imaginative and ambitious word choices his students had to offer this week. The following three are his top picks:
In first place, winning five house points for Gaya, is Vayne Lim from 7S with the rarely used and curious word for the smell of fresh rain after a long period of dryness, “petrichor”: ‘The boy became aware of the sweet aroma of petrichor after a strong afternoon downpour’.
In second place, scoring four house points for Sulug, was Leya Abd Razak from 9S with “wizened”: ‘The wizened old man turned out to be a powerful figure at the school’.
Finally, in third place, winning three house points for Sapi this time, was Shotaro Asada from 8K with his entry “fractious”: ‘Those politicians argue and moan like fractious teenagers’.
Congratulations to the winners and well done to all!
