HOUSE NEWS 05.09.2020
Another short week reaches its climax and I was proud to hear the results of the new Year 6 House Captains, who have been voted for by the school, announced in our Zoom assembly. Many congratulations to these 6 students; Aldrich & Amy for Gaya, Jaxon & Valentine for Sapi and Emmanuel & Eloise for Sulug! I look forward to working with them this year and developing their role as leaders of their Houses! Next week, they will start the first of their responsibilities as they take on the job of helping me total up the Weekly housepoints earned across Primary and working out the winning House in our weekly battles!
For this week, it was left to me to total up the housepoints collected throughout Primary. Our students have again shown off their amazing learning and dedication with a 4 day total of exactly 300 housepoints! Another great effort from all Primary resulting in an extremely close result with only 13 housepoints between first and third places!
The housepoints awarded to each team was:
In 3rd place, with 93 housepoints is Sulug!
In 2nd place with 101 housepoints is Gaya!
In 1st place with 106 housepoints is Sapi!
Our congratulations go to Sapi Sunbears who take the crown for Week 2! Who will we be celebrating next week?
GO GAYA PANGOLINS! GO SAPI SUNBEARS! GO SULUG SHARKS!!
HOUSE CHALLENGES ON CLASS DOJO!
A new year means a new start. And a new start means a new House Challenge!
This week saw the return of our Weekly House Challenges which will be shared with you through Dojo each Friday. On the first Friday of each month, we will share the latest Monthly Maths Challenge. Students wishing to take on a new challenge can attempt the September Maths Challenge and there is a task for Year 1&2, Year 3&4 and Year 5&6 to attempt.
Each week we will also share a Fun Challenge that families may wish to tackle together, or students can do independently, if they are keen to rise to the challenges set. This week’s fun challenge is a treasure hunt to find at least 10 objects matching your House colours. Your treasure hunt can be anywhere you are…at home, out shopping, or even on an outing for the day. Wherever you hunt, we look forward to seeing all the objects you can discover that match your House colours.
To share any of the challenges you complete, please upload your photos to your child’s individual Dojo portfolios. You can also drop a printed photo into the challenge boxes placed by the Class Dojo board at the front of the school.
We are also extremely excited and pleased to share with you again the return of our much loved Book @ Bedtime…or Anytime story. This week Mr. Gross reads the wonderful tale of Mrs Wobble the Waitress by Janet and Alan Ahlberg. We hope you enjoy sharing this story together at home and you look forward to hearing more stories read by members of our KIS community every fortnight.
If you missed the challenges when they were shared on Dojo on Friday, please check out School Story on Dojo to find the link to the Weekly Dojo Challenge folder. You can also use this link https://cutt.ly/LfcFEyn to access the folder and find the details for all the challenges shared this week. If you have any questions, please do get in touch via email; sbarlass@kis.edu.my or through Class Dojo messages.
We look forward to seeing as many of you participating with these weekly challenges, but please do remember that all challenges are optional. All entries for all challenges will be awarded with housepoints towards their House Team total, because “Team work makes the dream work!”
Happy challenging KIS!
